FAQ

What is AnthroSpark?

AnthroSpark is a nonprofit initiative that awards small, no-strings-attached microgrants to creators in the furry community. Our goal is to bolster creativity, access, and expression in the furry fandom—whether you're a digital artist, fursuit maker, writer, content creator, or craftsperson.

Who can apply for a grant?

Any furry creator, maker, or artist! You don't need to be famous or experienced. We're here to support digital & traditional artists, fursuit makers, writers & comic creators, musicians, crafters, streamers, and more. If you identify with or contribute to the furry community, you’re welcome to apply.

How do equipment requests work?

Equipment Requests are an alternative to our monetary grants. Instead of receiving cash, a creator can ask us to help cover a specific piece of equipment they need for their craft. It's a better fit when the real barrier isn't $100 of general support but one particular tool standing between a creator and their next project. We review Equipment Requests on a rolling basis as funds allow rather than a fixed monthly schedule. The Equipment Requests use the same criteria as our grants: need, community involvement, and prioritizing underrepresented or first-time creators whenever possible.

How often do you award grants?

We award a new grant on the 1st and the 15th of each month. Application cycles may vary depending on funding, but our goal is to support creators consistently and sustainably. The more support and donors we can attract, the more grants we can award each month, and hopefully someday larger grants as well!

What's required of applicants?

AnthroSpark grants are meant to empower furry creators of all ages and experience levels. Therefore, AnthroSpark does not fund non-furry related projects, NSFW or harmful activities.Right now, we primarily support U.S.-based applicants, but we hope to expand internationally as we grow. If you're outside the U.S., feel free to apply—we'll do our best to accommodate when funding allows.

What's expected of grantees?

Nothing. Seriously—our grants are no-strings-attached.
We don’t claim any ownership over your work, and we never will. We won’t ask for updates or deliverables. We simply want to help you create something awesome.

How do you choose who gets a grant?

We review each application based on your idea or need, your role in the furry community, and how the funds might help your work or access. You don’t need a big portfolio, lots of followers, or a resume. We aim to prioritize underrepresented, underfunded, or first-time creators whenever possible.

Does any grant money go to big conventions or organizations?

No - unlike many furry ran fundraisers, we don’t donate to third-party or large organizations. 100% of our grant funds go directly to individual furries in the community who need them the most.

Can I apply again if I don’t get picked?

YES! We encourage re-applying. We know that creative journeys take time—and funding is often a matter of timing and capacity, not your worth or talent.

How is AnthroSpark funded?

Because we are so small, AnthroSpark is only funded by our founder, Xander. We hope to scale funding initiatives by attracting individual donors and recurring contributors. Every dollar raised goes toward grants and operating costs.Future funding initiatives could include sales of merch, fundraising art, or occasional sponsorships from allies in the fandom. Our goal is to operate with as minimal overhead as possible, so that as much money as possible can go directly to creators, we believe in radical transparency and will publish funding stats periodically.

I don't have any money to donate, are there other ways I can support AnthroSpark?

YES!You can: spread the word on social media or volunteer (we sometimes need artists, community moderators, and help running convention booths)Your support helps keep creativity accessible for all furs.

Local Scout's Program

Become the face of AnthroSpark at your local convention! As a Scout, you're the person creators and community members meet in person. Tabling, handing out info, and answering questions about our grants and programs. You'll help us spot talented creators who might be a great fit for a grant or a Creature Feature spotlight, and you'll be the reason people in your local scene actually know who we are, not just a name they see online. This is a low-commitment, high-impact role. One convention a year is enough to make a true difference, and if you attend more, even better. No experience needed, we're looking for furries that share our vision and love for the fandom and our community.

Head Scout

The Head Scout leads AnthroSpark's entire Local Scout network!Recruiting new scouts, onboarding them, and making sure everyone has what they need to represent us well at their home convention. You'll be the main point of contact for scouts across the country, helping coordinate schedules, answer questions, and keep the program running smoothly as it grows. This role works closely with Xander and the leadership team, and is a great fit for
someone who's led a team before. We're looking for an individual who is experienced in staffing a convention, running a Discord community, or managing people at work.
Ideally, the Head Scout wants to help build something from the ground up with the AnthroSpark team, rather than just executing an existing plan.

Head of Special Projects

The Special Projects team is how AnthroSpark partners with furry businesses to fund initiatives
bigger than our monthly microgrants. This person will help coordinate community meets, music venues, and other investments in the spaces where our fandom physically gathers.
As Head of Special Projects, you'll be comfortable reaching out to fursuit makers, artists, and vendors, to build relationships, and pitch partnerships on behalf of AnthroSpark with the goal of funding special events and creative endeavors. This is a high-trust, public facing role that works directly with Xander and the leadership team. The board reviews and signs off on proposed agreements, so your job is building the relationship and making the pitch, not carrying legal risk on your own. This position is ideal for someone who already has some standing in the furry business/maker community, and social media spaces.
